At Sunshine Scenic Tours, we believe in the power of community and the magic of storytelling. Last week, during National School Lunch Week, our pirates set sail for a different kind of adventureโone on land! Captain Dustin and Matt traded the decks of the Royal Conquest for classrooms, visiting James Sanderlin K-8 and Dunedin Elementary.
As part of our Hearts & Minds project, we were thrilled to spend time with the students, sharing our love of books, adventure, and, of course, pirates! Together, we talked about Penny the Pirate Pup, our childrenโs book about Pennyโs exciting escapades in Boca Ciega Bay. The kids lit up with questions about life as a pirate, and our crew was happy to answer them allโrumor has it, there might be some future pirates in the making!
National School Lunch Week, celebrated each October (postponed this year due to the recent hurricanes), highlights the importance of healthy school lunches in fueling students for learning and success. Itโs a chance to emphasize the connection between nutritious meals and academic achievement while also celebrating the amazing staff who make it all possible. This year, we were proud to add a touch of adventure to the festivities with stories and smiles.
To make the experience even more special, we gave away copies of Penny the Pirate Pup to inspire a love of reading and adventure at home. Seeing the students’ excitement was a treasure worth more than gold.
National School Lunch Week reminds us of the importance of connecting with the next generation, and weโre honored to be part of their journey. Giving back to our community is a cornerstone of what we do, and weโre looking forward to more events where we can spark imagination and bring smiles to young faces.
If youโd like to bring a bit of pirate magic to your school or community event, drop us a message! Together, we can make learning a swashbuckling good time.
