Sunshine Scenic Tours Looks Toward the Future with Penny the Pirate Pup and Dive Into Boca Ciega Bay!
The hurricane season this year has been brutal, but it’s allowed us to sit down and really focus on what Sunshine Scenic Tours is all about and who we want to be when we grow up! We love being pirates, but we want to be pirates with a purpose. We are going to rebuild and make sure that we are coming back as an even stronger part of our community and an even bigger champion of Boca Ciega Bay!
As we work diligently toward a reopening, we will continue to grow our eco-educational series, “Dive Into Boca Ciega Bay!” and introduce you to Penny the Pirate Pup, star of her own pirate adventure book for kids! EcoSeries Classroom Sponsorships
Our Eco-Educational Series, “Dive Into Boca Ciega Bay!” is an incredible resource for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, with five exciting episode and more in the works. The series introduces students to the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin and showcases Boca Ciega Bay’s unique coastal ecosystem. But we’re just getting started! Our goal is to expand the series to delve into the mad world of manatees, birds and their migration patterns, and the micro-environments they live and thrive in.
These episodes will roll out from December 2024 into summer 2025. You can help make this possible by becoming a sponsor. Any amount helps so pick the amount that’s right for you!

Penny the Pirate Pup – Inspiring Adventurers!
For our younger adventurers, meet Penny the Pirate Pup, a charming tale for K-3rd graders written in collaboration by brothers Chris and Dustin O’Neal. By sponsoring a classroom, you provide each student with their own copy of the book for up to 30 students and a magical read-aloud experience led by our crew in full pirate garb.
Did you know that a two-decade long study found that the mere presence of a home library increases children’s academic success, vocabulary development, attention and job attainment? Penny’s adventures are sure to inspire curiosity about the ocean and conservation in the hearts of young learners.
