Summer is almost here, and that means it’s time to cool off with a pirate-inspired cocktail that’ll make you go “argh”! Although we only offer beer and wine onboard the ship, the krewe loves a great pirate themed cocktail. So, to help you celebrate the summer, we’ve provided some of our favorite concoctions that even the booziest buccaneers would enjoy. Bottoms up!
Captain Jack
If you’re a Rum lover, then the Captain Jack is the perfect cocktail for a pirate-themed party.
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 1 ½ ounces amber rum
- ½ ounce dark rum
- ½ ounce 151-proof rum
- ¾ ounce fresh pineapple juice
- ¾ ounce fresh lime juice
- ½ ounce Velvet Falernum
- ½ ounce simple brown sugar
- Pineapple slice for garnish
Directions: Put all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake until icy cold. Double strain over fresh ice. Garnish and enjoy!
Free the Sparrow
Pirates love the freedom of the open seas! Enjoy this light, slightly sweet pirate-themed cocktail.
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 2 ounces dark rum
- 4 ounces pineapple juice
- 1 ounce fresh orange juice
- 1 ounce sweetened coconut
- ½ ounce grenadine
- Orange slice and a cherry for garnish
Directions: Put all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake until icy cold. Double strain over fresh ice. Garnish and enjoy!
Buried Treasure
This pirate party cocktail is the perfect taste of summer thanks to strawberries, lime, and pink champagne (don’t take our Pirate card)!
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 3 tablespoons fresh strawberry puree
- ½ tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1/3 – ½ cup pink champagne or other sparkling wine
- Strawberries, blackberries, lime wedges, and mint
- Sprigs for garnish (optional)
Directions: Pour puree, lime juice, pink champagne over ice to chill. Place fruits (lime, blackberries, and strawberries) in the bottom of tall glass. Strain liquid into glass and garnish.
Shipwrecked
This cocktail packs a punch for your pirate-themed birthday party. Drink responsibility or you’ll feel wrecked.
- 1 pound frozen pineapple chunks
- 2 cups ice
- 6 ounces light rum
- 4 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
- 3 ounces simple syrup
- 2 ½ ounces dark rum
Directions: Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. For an extra bit of fun, serve your frozen drink in a hallowed-out coconut or pineapple. Serves 6.
The Wrecked Pirate Cocktail
Blue Curacao, pineapple and multiple types of rum make for a great pirate-themed drink!
Ingredients:
- 2 parts spiced rum
- 1 part coconut rum
- 2 parts pineapple juice
- Splash of Blue Curacao
- Splash of Lemon-Lime Soda
- Juice of ½ lime
- Fresh pineapple for garnish
- Maraschino cherries for garnish
Directions: In a shaker, combine 1 cup of ice, the rums, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice, and lime juice. Shake well. Pour in a glass and add a splash of lemon-lime soda. Garnish with pineapple and cherries.
Tropical Storm
Being in Florida, we get our fair share of storms, but this one is a good one. Perfect for a pirate-themed drink.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh pineapple juice
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1 cup white rum
- ¾ cup high-proof dark rum
- 3 tablespoons Campari
- Orange wedges and maraschino cherries, for garnish
Directions: Mix ingredients in a pitcher. Cover and chill 4 to 12 hours. Divide among ice-filled glasses. Garnish with orange wedges and maraschino cherries.
Pirate Punch
Avast ye! This drink is one of our krewe’s favorites and it’s sure to be a favorite of yours too!
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces chilled cranberry juice
- 8 ounces chilled orange juice
- 4 ounces Bacardi Dark Rum
- 4 ounces Bacardi White
- 2 ounces Amaretto Disaronno
- Fruit for garnish (optional)
Directions: In a large pitcher, combine juices, rum, and Disaronno. Top with ice or serve with glasses filled with ice. Garnish individual glasses with fruit such as pineapple wedges, orange slices, or maraschino cherries if desired.
Caribbean Queen Cocktail
This simple drink brings the taste of the Caribbean to any party!
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ ounce Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum
- ¾ ounces freshly pressed pineapple
- ¾ ounces coconut water
- ¾ lemongrass juice
- Pineapple slice for garnish
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake until cold. Double strain over fresh ice. Garnish and enjoy!
