Dog-Friendly Beaches in Tampa Bay

Although being two very different species, there’s a special friendship between dolphins and dogs. And when they’re together, they look like they’re the best of friends. We bet you also love dogs and dolphins. We’re all kinds of spoiled living in Tampa Bay with our “Endless Summers” and beautiful beaches. So, you must see one of the gorgeous dog-friendly beaches scattered from bay to bay and along the coastline! Here’s a rundown of our favorites…

Apollo Beach

The beach at Apollo Beach has been restored and re-opened! Leashed dogs are welcome, and there are waste bag locations scattered around the area for convenient cleanups.

Davis Island Dog Beach

1002 Severn Street, Tampa

Whether you’re traveling by boat, bike, or automobile, this waterfront dog beach is a laid-back spot to unwind with your four-legged friend.

Dogs can roam free in either of the two main areas – a dry field or the beach area with 200 feet of fenced-in waterfront space. This area also features a water fountain and wash station to help keep your dog cool and clean.

Fort De Soto Dog Beach

3500 Pinellas Bayway South, Tierra Verde

Let your dogs roam free at this beautiful, historic beach! They can dive and splash in the water, make some new puppy friends, and enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine.

This beach also has two separate areas – one for large dogs and the other for smaller pups. Both are equipped with water stations.

Honeymoon Island State Park

1 Causeway Boulevard, Dunedin

This expansive state park features a designated beach area for dogs and also allows leashed pets on the nature trail. It’s a Dunedin gem and totally worth the trip with your pooch!

Pass-A-Grille Dog Beach

113 11th Ave, Passe-A-Grille

Bring your furry friend to enjoy the sands and surf of this dog beach in St. Petersburg, Florida. There are just two rules: clean up any mess that your pooch leaves behind and treat others with respect.

Picnic Island Beach

7409 Picnic Island Blvd, Tampa

Right near the Port of Tampa, you can visit Picnic Island Beach – a beautiful stretch of beach that spans nearly eight acres! A portion of this large area is reserved for dogs where they are free to play in the water without a leash. Just keep in mind that the beach is not fenced in. If your dog is the running-off type, you may want to keep it on a leash. Water for your dog is available in the children’s playground area.

We love all animals and hope you enjoy time with your dog enjoying the waters of Tampa Bay. Your pup may be exhausted after the trip so you can enjoy a tour with us. Schedule online or call us today at 727-392-7090 to book your dolphin sightseeing cruise of Madeira Beach!
